How to mint your first NFT for free on Opensea? A Step-by-Step Guide

I have experimented with MetaMask Wallet so I will explain the detailed process.

Before you go to the OpenSea, you need to have a MetaMask Wallet.

You have to install a chrome extension of MetaMask Wallet.

Once you have installed the extension, you must register and save your Secret Recovery Phrase.

After that, you need to visit the OpenSea website and click on Wallet, which is MetaMask, like in the image below -

After your wallet is connected, you have to click on the “Create button,” which you can see below -

After clicking on create button, you will see the below image where you need to upload your first NFT –

Provide a name to your first NFT, and as you go down the page, you will see the below image -

The external link is optional, so you can ignore it. Add a description related to your NFT; even your NFT name works and can be edited later. Collection name reflects once you have submitted your NFT. So, ignore the collection part too.

After that, below, 3 sections will reflect you -

1. Properties — You need to mention properties about your NFT.

2. Levels — You can compare levels with the Pokémon here as everyone knows Pokémon, and each Pokémon holds rarity and depending on their rarity, their value is defined. The same goes for your NFT collection. The more rare your NFT collection is, its price will be higher.

Note — While creating Levels content, I didn’t find any formula to analyze and develop a correct number. Though it works as Metadata for NFT.

3. Stats — Stats reflect on your NFT copies. For example, if your NFT holds 5 copies, you have to rate 1/5 as you use 1 copy for sale. But for me, I am using this one and only one copy, so I rated it 5/5.

If you see the above image, you can see -

1. Unlockable Content — The potential form of Unlockable Content could be Certificates & Proofs for your NFT, Videos, Physical Collectible, Exclusive Content, Access to Communities, etc. If you have something like that, you can attach it under “Unlockable Content.”

2. Explicit & Sensitive Content — If your NFT is about Explicit & Sensitive Content, then you have to “Turn On” the tab button mentioned in the above image.

After the above steps are done, you will see the below steps on the same page which is most important -

The above image reflects Polygon, but for you, it will reflect Ethereum; you need to select Polygon to Mint free on OpenSea. Ignore the Freeze metadata option and click on “Submit.”

After clicking on the “Submit” button, the page below will reflect that NFT has been minted on the OpenSea. But you haven’t added your pricing yet. Keep reading; I will show you where you to add your pricing to your NFT.

Now, click on the blue icon as you can see in the below image and further click on “My Collections.”

When the page opens, you have to click on the “Create a Collection” button, and after that, the page below will open where you upload an image for your collection; this image can be your NFT too, which reflects your Collections.

You can see the below image, Featured Image can be ignored, but if you want to keep one, you can. And, even your banner could be around one of your NFTs.

As you can see in the image below, you need to give a name to your Collections of your NFT, a URL name, and a description.

After adding the above details, you will see more options below in the image -

Creator Earnings — You need to decide the percentage because your NFT can be resold numerous times. Every time your NFT is sold, you will get a fee that is decided by your end.

Your payout wallet address — You may find it difficult to get your wallet address through the MetaMask Wallet extension. Download the MetaMask on your phone, copy the payout address from there, and further paste it here.

Blockchain — Which blockchain do you want to receive your NFT payout in? By default, Ethereum will reflect, but you can change it.

After filling in the above details, you will see the below options -

Where the displayed theme — Contained will be at default; you can change it if you want to.

If your content is Explicit & Sensitive Content, then turn on the tab.

After that, click on “Create.”

Once you have clicked on the “Create” button. Here, could be 3 possibilities -

1. It won’t process further then; there could be mistakes somewhere around your page filling or maybe URL.

2. It will proceed smoothly.

3. It will reflect an error “Oops, something went wrong.”

Even if you get the below error, don’t worry; I am here to help you. Keep following the steps below; you will get the answer.

Note — If your process goes smoothly, you can skip this part.

As you can see in the image below, you need to click on “Contact Support.”

After clicking on “Contact Support,” the below page will open where you need to fill in all the details with the screenshot of the error you received.

After filling out the whole form, you need to click on the “Submit” button, and you will receive the mail below -

After this, I wondered who would wait for so long. Then I logged out from OpenSea and tried to log in again.

What I saw surprised me!!

Yes! The problem was solved.

Though I received the mail from the OpenSea team, the screenshot is below -

I am sharing this because you can depend on the OpenSea team if your problem is not solved.

After login, you have to click on “My Collections,” and you will see the below image; you need to move your first NFT under your Collections.

To move the NFT to your collections, you need to go to the tab near your wallet; for me, it is in blue and click on the “Profile.” You will see your first NFT there. As you can see the 3 dots, you need to click on them.

After clicking on the 3 dots, you will see the image below, and you need to click on “Edit.”

After clicking on the “Edit” button, you will see the below image, where you need to click on “Collections” and select your collection.

After that, you need to click on “Submit Changes.”

Those changes will reflect under “My Collections,” you can see in the image below that 1 item has moved under your collections.

And you can delete the other collection if you want to delete it.

Now, you need to double click on your NFT collection, and you will see the below image -

The page will reflect like this, and there is only 1 item and 1 owner of the NFT here.

And below, you can see the NFT, which is added under this collection -

You need to double click on your NFT, and a new page will open, which you can see in the below image -

Now, you have to click on the “Sell” button, as you can see in the image above.

After clicking on the Sell button, the below screen will reflect -

You need to decide your pricing and duration for your NFT; 1 month comes as default. You can keep the same.

There will be a fee option, too, which you will see on your screen in the below image -

Now, you need to click on “Complete Listing.”

Now, the below process has started working; you can see the image below -

As you can see in the above image, the sign button is not clickable, but after clicking on the “Downward Arrow,” it will be clickable.

After “Approve Collection” is processed, the same process will happen for “Approve Currency” and “Confirm Listing.”

After all three processes are approved, a new page will open, and you can see the image below -

Your first NFT and Collections have been listed for sale on OpenSea.
